SAC NEWSFLASH

 NEWS - Open Day

  •
  • Almost without exception, the Open Day last Sunday was considered to be a great success. It featured the official opening of the newly sealed runway, helicopter rides, model aircraft static and flying display, American sports car parade, a multiple parachute drop, a circuit by the Cessna Dragonfly and an aerobatics display.
  •
  • Static displays included many of your beautifully presented SAC aircraft, the Fly Market, the Nomad from the Bankstown Aviation Museum, fire trucks from the Wedderburn Rural Fire Service, a jumping castle for the kids, Harland's Exotic Plant and Tasty Fruit Market, the Australian Air league, the Macarthur Country Music Club Band, and various stalls.
  •
  • Food was made available by the Lions Club of Camden, Devonshire teas by our Social Committee and an Espresso Coffee van.
  •
  • Sincere thanks go to many of our club members who contributed their time and effort for the Open Day. This includes those who volunteered to set up the airfield before the event, and on the day to be on duty at the gate, car parking and aircraft marshalling duties, multiple other tasks, and those who put their loved aircraft on display.
  •
  • All together, $2,240 was raised for the charitable "Angel Fight" organisation. This was made up of $1,370 from the gates, the raffle raised $570, Greg and Anne Goulding gathered $110, Camden Lions Club raised $100, Bob and Pat Peak contributed $30 from the Fly Market and there was a further $60 in other donations.

Become a member of the NSW Sports Aircraft Club Inc. and enjoy the general experience of belonging to a club dedicated to the private ownership of aircraft and to the comradeship of the aviation fraternity. Wedderburn was founded as an inexpensive venue for members to fly, house their aircraft and fraternize with aviation minded people. And it continues to adhere to those principals today. So ideally it is the Flying Club there for your pleasure---- not simply a place to park your aircraft. Joining information can be found here.
