THE SPOT LANDING COMPETITION

1 MAY 2005

7 AIRCRAFT PARTICIPATED - CLUB ATTENDEES WERE:

DAVE THOMAS

DAVE RITTIE

BERT FAULKNER

PETER SCOTT

NASH PILLING

ROBERT GRIEG

BERNIE STEVERMUER

In conjunction with the fly in - drive in brunch, we held the spot landing comp mid morning. We delayed the event a bit, until the wind eased off or at least swung around to up and down the run way.

Our eager flyers were soon away and trying their best to touch down on the spot. Once again, there were three attempts to land on the white line. First time around no-one seemed to have much success. Second time around, a couple got a bit closer. Third and last time it just goes to show with a bit of practice it can be perfect, both Dave Rittie and Bernie Stevermuer both nailed it on the spot.

It is of interest to note, of the 8 observers (3 being the judges) to this event, it was pleasing to see all pilots & aircraft participating adhered to the fly neighbourly requirements and kept in close proximity of the airfield and in full view of the observers at all times. Well done.

All up points were: Dave Rittie 45, Bernie Stevermuer 40, Nash Pilling 35, Robert Grieg 30, all others received 20 points.

Trophies were awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd placing - Dave, Bernie & Nash respectively.

Congratulations to all who participated.
