NSW Sport Aircraft Club Inc.

Nowra Navigation Trial

SUNDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2004

The morning started out quite interestingly. On arrival at the Club gates our first hurdle was to get past the burnt out vehicle directly in front of the gates. A burnt out molten mess of a van was no match to a winch cable and 4WD grunt and shove. It was soon shifted off to the side of the road and then a quick clean up of the road by some helpful members and we were soon on our way to our eagerly awaiting aircraft.

We all met at the Club house for a briefing. A bit cloudy and overcast day but it was staying dry so we took the punt and went.

A good turnout by our members. All up we had 12 aircraft attending.

Along the way these intrepid aviators were given some questions to answer while they enjoyed their lovely flight down along the coast.

Arrival at Nowra was also interesting. We had to play dodgems with some parrot shooters (parachutists) who were dropping through the sky. I think we made their day when they broadcasted their intentions to jump and we advised that we had 12 aircraft on approach to Nowra. We followed correct procedures and missed each other but I think they were thankful to actually get their feet back down on land.

Everyone enjoyed looking through the Naval Museum - they have certainly got a great range of aircraft and exhibits to look at. Quite a lot has been improved since last year when we were last there. They now have a walkway up above the aircraft so that you can get a birds-eye view of the exhibits. The Cafe there is very well set up, everyone got a good feed.

Everyone attending the event received 10 points and the quizz was out of 40 points.

Point results for the day is as follows:
